Virginia & Truckee Railway 2024

Virginia & Truckee Railway Photo Charter 2024
The Virginia & Truckee Railway Charter
Virginia City, NV
February 8-9, 2024
The Virginia & Truckee Railroad in western Nevada traverses a very scenic line through the Sierra Nevada Mountains that features numerous mountain backdrops, historic buildings, 4% grades, a 19-degree curve, and two active tunnels. For our charter, the former McCloud River Railroad 2-8-2 #18 will pull a freight train, and a diesel will pull a passenger car for us to travel in.
As some of you know, the V&T recently acquired the original V&T 4-4-0 #11 “Reno.” For our charter, the railroad will cosmetically restore the locomotive, and we will tow it to a couple of photo locations on the line during one of our photo days. We will use smoke bombs and 1880s reenactors to help enhance these scenes.
The photo charter will be based out of Virginia City, NV.
