Southern Pacific #18, also known as the “Slim Princess”, is an oil-fired 4-6-0 “Ten-Wheeler” narrow gauge locomotive built by Baldwin in 1911. In 2017, the SP 18 was restored to operating condition and has traveled to several railroads and museums. In the spring of 2023, the SP 18 will travel to Laws Railroad Museum in CA for a visit.
The Laws Railroad Museum Historic Site features a number of structures including a depot, water tower, turntable, and other buildings. Many of the buildings are authentic Southern Pacific narrow gauge buildings. Sister locomotive 4-6-0 SP #9 is also on display in the yard.
For our photo shoot, the SP 18 will move around various parts of the museum grounds and do staged shots as well as short runbys with SP narrow gauge freight cars. We’ll have a number of reenactors on hand to help enhance the scenes.
Each day, the photo shoots will feature a morning session, an afternoon session, and a night session. Most of the scenes will be repeated daily, but there will be slight variations from day to day.
Our photo shoots occur on Thursday and Friday. There will be a museum-sponsored public event on Saturday and Sunday.

Our latest go/no-go date is 30 days before the photo shoot. If by 30 days prior to the photo shoot, there are not enough people signed up, the photo shoot will be canceled. All reservations are non-refundable after our go/no-go date is set. If a participant can’t make the event after our go/no-go date is set, the patron must find someone else to purchase their spot, or the spot charge gets credited to a future event. Lerro Photography does reserve the right to cancel a photo charter at their discretion. If the charter is canceled, Lerro Photography will refund the photo shoot reservation price. All refunds will be issued by check only after 180 days of the charge. The Credit Card Convenience fee is non-refundable regardless of patron or charter cancellation. Lerro Photography is not responsible for the loss of additional expenses. Lerro Photography reserves the right to make changes to the schedule, dates, and or what we are shooting if need be. We are not responsible for bad weather, delays, or cancelations. We are also not responsible for lost or stolen items, injuries, sickness, or damages to personal equipment and loss of personal travel expenses. Failure to comply with park rules, and regulations and with the direction of Lerro Photography can and will result in your expulsion from the charter without refund. Lerro Photography reserves the right to expel a patron if needed.
