East Broad Top Fall 2023
The East Broad Top #16 Charter
The East Broad Top #16 Charter
Rockhill Furnace, PA
October 18-19, 2023
Join Lerro Photography as we bring you back to the 1940s-1950s and photograph this historic and well-preserved railroad. Not only will there be the timelessness of the railroad, but the backdrop of changing leaves during the fall will make for a spectacular scene. We will photograph the locomotive at several locations along the track, the beautiful station, and the yard. This photo charter will feature EBT’s #16 pulling a freight train on October 18th and a passenger train on October 19th. There will be a night photo session held on October 18th as well to highlight the engine in its glory. As always, there will be a variety of historic vehicles, correctly dressed reenactors, and other props to help bring our photo scenes to life.
The East Broad Top Railroad is a 3 ft narrow gauge historic and heritage railroad headquartered in Rockhill Furnace, Pennsylvania. Operating from 1871 to 1956, it is one of the nation’s oldest and best-preserved narrow-gauge railroads and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. When the EBT suspended freight service in 1956, it was left virtually untouched and became a full-scale time capsule. The Smithsonian has described it as one of the country’s most intact 19th-century historic sites. From 1964-2011, the EBT acted as a tourist railroad while still keeping to its historic charm. From 2011 to 2020, the railroad was left in limbo without a future. Luckily a foundation was formed in 2020 to save the EBT, and after countless hours of hard work, steam has finally returned in early 2023.
