The Maryland Western Scenic Railroad has granted Lerro photography an additional day to run another photo charter.
Western Maryland Scenic Railroad #1309, formerly Chesapeake & Ohio #1309, is a compound articulated class H-6 “Mallet” 2-6-6-2 steam locomotive. It was originally built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949 for the C&O, where it pulled coal trains until its retirement in 1956. It has the distinction of being the last steam locomotive built by Baldwin for a North American railroad.
In 2014, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad acquired C&O #1309 from the B&O Railroad Museum and after a 7-year restoration, the locomotive is finally ready for service. During the restoration, the railroad painted #1309 as a Western Maryland locomotive with the fireball logo on the tender. For our photo charter, the locomotive will be temporarily painted back to Chesapeake & Ohio lettering.
During the photo charter, C&O #1309 will pull a freight train with caboose and perform runbys each day. The photographers will ride in passenger cars that will be pulled separately by a diesel. A night session will be held as well.
Please keep in mind that once my February charters are over, the Chesapeake and Ohio lettering and paint will be removed. February will be the only opportunity you’ll have to see the engine in this paint scheme.

Our latest go/no go date is 30 days before the photo shoot. If by 30 days prior to the photo shoot, there are not enough people signed up, the photo shoot will be canceled. All reservations are non refundable after our go/no go date is set. If a participant can’t make the event after our go/ no go date is set, the patron must find someone else to purchase their spot or the spot charge gets credited to a future event. Lerro Photography does reserve the right to cancel a photo charter at their discretion. If the charter is canceled, Lerro Photography will refund the photo shoot reservation price. All refunds will be issued by check only if after 180 days of the charge. The Credit Card Convenience fee in non-refundable regardless of patron or charter cancellation. Lerro Photography is not responsible for loss of additional expenses. Lerro Photography reserves the right to make changes to the schedule, dates and or what we are shooting if need be. We are not responsible for bad weather, delays or cancelations. We are also not responsible for lost or stolen items, injuries, sickness or damages to personal equipment and lost of personal travel expense. Failure to comply to park rules, regulations and to the direction of Lerro Photography can and will result in your expulsion from the charter without refund.
