Chesapeake Bay Photo Workshop 2022 April 2022, Lerro Photography organized a photography photo workshop of the central Chesapeake Bay that featured 10 lighthouses in addition to landscape and wildlife shots around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Our first day featured two charter boat rides out in the Bay. Our first boat left at dawn and we got to photograph a spectacular sunrise at the Thomas Point Lighthouse. We also photographed the magnificent Chesapeake Bay Bridge and four other lighthouses, including Sharps Island Light. Sharps Island Lighthouse is best know for leaning at 15 degrees due to an ice flow impact that occurred… [Read More]
Yosemite Photo Workshop 2022
Yosemite Photo Workshop 2022 In February 2022, Lerro Photography organized a photography photo workshop at Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is one of America’s most popular National Parks and is world-renowned through the artwork of landscape photographer Ansel Adam. We planned our photo workshop to coincide with the Fire Falls event at Horsetail Falls as well as the potential of winter storms. The winter snowfall got off to a great start with several big snowstorms in December and January but unfortunately, it warmed up the week proceeding our workshop so most of the snow in the valley melted just… [Read More]
San Francisco and Golden Gate Photo Workshop 2022

We started with a spectacular sunset of the rock formations at Rodeo Beach. We then moved on to nighttime photos around Treasure Island and of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. On the 2nd day, we returned to San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and were treated to a beautiful sunrise. During our midday break, some of our group chose to take the boat trip over to Alcatraz Island to photograph both the exterior… [Read More]
Classic Pin-up on the Battleship New Jersey 2021
Pin-up on the Battleship New Jersey In November 2021, Lerro Photography sponsored a two-day vintage pin-up photo shoot on the Battleship New Jersey. Each day, our small group of participants got to photograph the lovely ladies in various parts of the ships. Despite the cold wind and some rain outside, the models were great sports while being photographed out on the decks and on top of Turret 1. They were able to warm up while posing in places like the engine room, the bridge, CEC and other areas of the ship. The Battleship New Jersey was a great host for… [Read More]
Air to Air Photo Shoot 2021
Air-to-Air Photo Shoot – October 2021 TBM Avenger and the F4U Corsair The Military Aviation Museum is home to one of the largest private collections of World War I and World War II era military aircraft in the world, which made it an obviously choice for us to photograph. The museum is located in Virginia Beach, VA and with it being located near the ocean, it only made sense for us to go with a US Navy aircraft theme. After consulting with the photographers, we decided to use two World War II aircraft, the TBM Avenger and the F4U Corsair,… [Read More]
Age of Steam Roundhouse 2020 Review
Age of Steam 2020 Review In 2019, Lerro Photography started discussions with the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Ohio on doing a photo shoot and had tentatively planned on running a public shoot in mid-2020. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to those plans. After some discussion during the summer of 2020, it was decided to do a smaller scale “test shoot” to see how a socially distanced photo shoot could work inside the roundhouse. For the photo shoot, we had to acquire two large fog machines because we cannot use our usual smoke bombs inside the museum. The… [Read More]
Vintage Aircraft Photo Shoot
As with most large events in 2020, nearly all airshows had been cancelled, including the Yankee Air Museum’s “Thunder Over Michigan” airshow. As the saying goes when one door closes, another opens. In this case, it allowed Lerro Photography the opportunity to put together a last-minute photo shoot. Since the museum had everyone already scheduled, they were more than happy to host us. While following Michigan’s Covid-19 rules, Lerro Photography was able to put together a number of reenactment photo shoots throughout the day. The schedule featured two air-to-air photo shoots, an afternoon ground shoot and a night session. For… [Read More]
North Carolina Lighthouse Photo Workshop 2020 Review
North Carolina Lighthouse Photo Workshop 2020 Review Lerro Photography hosted the North Carolina Lighthouse photo workshop from July 22-26, 2020. The workshop was originally scheduled for May, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced a delay. Once things started to calm down, we were able to reschedule for July, providing we were able to follow social distancing rules set by the State and National Parks. During the trip we were surrounded by lightning storms but the skies above us were clear and offered us a great view of the Milky Way as well as the Comet NEOWISE. The first part of the… [Read More]
D-Day Conneaut Photo Shoots
In August 2019, Lerro Photography sponsored two fundraiser photo shoots to coincide with the annual World War II D-Day reenactment in Conneaut, OH, in which 1,700 reenactors depict the D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944. It’s actually considered one of the biggest WWII reenactments in the world. The beach at Conneaut, OH offers similar terrain to Normandy Beach with Lake Erie, a wide sandy beach and a large hill. During the main event, the GI’s offload on the beach in real Higgins boats and storm towards the hill. The German reenactors are entrenched on the hill and… [Read More]
Liberty Ship Photo Shoot 2019
Liberty Ship Photo Shoot 2019 In September 2019, Lerro Productions sponsored a photo shoot on the Liberty Ship “John W. Brown” in Baltimore, MD. Originally the plan was to have our photographers and reenactors ride the public cruise and then ride the overnight deadhead run to Norfolk, VA. Because of issues in the Norfolk harbor and Hurricane Dorian, the ship had to remain docked for the weekend. Instead of fully cancelling, the photographers and reenactors opted to spend the day on the ship and make the best of the situation. We spent the first two hours in the engine room,… [Read More]
