Thunder Over Michigan Airshow and Night Shoot 2023 Since 2019, Lerro Photography has been providing the lighting for the night photo sessions at Yankee Air Museum’s Thunder Over Michigan Airshow. The two-day airshow features a mix of WWII, Vietnam, and modern aircraft, including the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lighting II. Traditionally, our night sessions are of WWII-era planes, but at Thunder, we mix it up with vintage and modern aircraft. The first aircraft in the night session was a P-51 Mustang. To go along with it, a WWII searchlight was turned on in the background to add to the… [Read More]
WWII Reading Airshow and Night Shoot
WWII Airshow at Mid-Atlantic Air Museum 2023 In June 2023, Lerro Photography was hired to provide the lighting for the 3rd annual night photo session during the World War II Airshow at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA. The night session featured three planes, a Bell P-63 Kingcobra, a Stearman biplane, and an Aichi D3A1 Val replica. Before the night photo session started, the airport’s fire truck sprayed water around and in front of each plane to create a reflection. Each plane put on quite a show for the attendees by running their engines, allowing the photographers to capture… [Read More]
Howard DGA-15P Air to Air Photo Shoot 2022
Howard DGA-15P Air to Air Photo Shoot 2022 In July 2022, I was given the opportunity to photograph two Howard DGA-15Ps in the air over Lake Erie. These beautifully restored aircraft are privately owned and maintained to a very high standard, so much so that the green Howard won Best in Show at Oshkosh 2019. If these planes look familiar, it’s because they both made a surprise appearance during our Liberty Aviation photo shoot for both day and night photos in 2021. Fun Fact: DGA in the name stands for “Damn Good Airplane”. I look forward to working with the… [Read More]

This airshow features a mix of WWII, Vietnam, and modern aircraft including the famous Blue Angels. Traditionally our night sessions are of WWII era planes. To the surprise of all the photographers, an F-16C Viper from the Ohio Air National Guard’s 112th Fighter Squadron “Stingers” was… [Read More]

Air to Air Photo Shoot 2021
Air-to-Air Photo Shoot – October 2021 TBM Avenger and the F4U Corsair The Military Aviation Museum is home to one of the largest private collections of World War I and World War II era military aircraft in the world, which made it an obviously choice for us to photograph. The museum is located in Virginia Beach, VA and with it being located near the ocean, it only made sense for us to go with a US Navy aircraft theme. After consulting with the photographers, we decided to use two World War II aircraft, the TBM Avenger and the F4U Corsair,… [Read More]
